Check this out:
Add four plus five and you get nine.
That's a fact, yeah, that's a fact.
Add five plus four and you also get nine.
That's a fact, yeah, another fact so fine.

Chorus
We three numbers-four, five, nine,
We are a fact family!
We hang together mathematically.
You can rearrange us
To make four different facts:
Two facts that add
And two facts that subtract.

Check this out:
Subtract four from nine and you get five.
That's a fact, yeah, that's a fact.
Subtract five from nine and you get four.
That's a fact, yeah, that's for sure.

Repeat chorus.

The three numbers in any math fact
Make a family-we hang together.
(We hang together.)
There are families for subtraction and addition,
And other families for multiplication and division.

Now check this out:
Multiply two times four and you get eight.
That's a fact, yeah, that's a fact.
Multiply four times two and you also get eight.
That's a fact, yeah, isn't it great?

Divide eight by two and you get four.
That's a fact, yeah, that's a fact.
Divide eight by four and you get two.
That's a fact, yeah, you know it's true.

Chorus
We three numbers-two, four, eight,
We are a fact family!
We hang together mathematically.
You can rearrange us
Either way that you decide:
Two facts that multiply
And two facts that divide.

So look for fact families in your math facts.
We make math easy, so you can relax.
We hang together. We hang together.
We hang together. We hang together.
We hang together. (Sing it with us.)
We hang together. (Mathematically.)
We hang together. (Turn us around.)
We hang together. (Sing it with

Get to the Point (coordinate plane)

Get to the point, get to the point,
Oh, I've got to get to the point.
Get to the point, get to the point,
Oh, I've got to get to the point.

This coordinate plane, it confuses my brain.
How can I locate a point on the plane?
I know I have to do this right.
There are two intersecting perpendicular number lines
Confusing to my brain tonight.
(I've got to get to the point.)

The horizontal line, it goes side to side,
That's the x axis. (Get to the point.)
The vertical line, it goes up and down,
That's the y axis. (Get to the point.)
Where they intersect, that's the origin.
To graph a point,
You have to start at the origin,
Start at the origin.

When you see two numbers in parentheses,
That's called an ordered pair.
The numbers tell you which direction to go
And how far to move to get there.
Which way? How far?
Look at what the numbers are!

Chorus
First you do the horizontal-that's the x,
Then you do the vertical-the y next.
Move left or right, and then move up or down,
The numbers will tell you how many units
To count. (to get to the point)

Begin at the origin: First you do the x,
Negative means move left, positive means move right.
Then from that point you do the y,
Negative means move down, positive means move up.

Let's see if you've got it now!
Negative four, positive three: (Go left four, up three.)
Positive two, positive nine: (Go right two, up nine.)
Positive one, negative five: (Go right one, down five.)
Negative four, negative eight: (Go left four, down eight.)
Yes, I think you've got it straight!

Repeat chorus.

Get to the point, get to the point,
Oh, you've got to get to the point!
Get to the point, get to the point,
Oh, you've got to get to the point! (Get to the point!)

How Easy Is That? (add and subtract fractions)

Let me show you something that's easy to do.

Easy for you, but more difficult for me.
It looks complicated, but it's easy as can be.
How easy is that?

When you've got LIKE fractions, how do you know?
They have the same denominator down below.

To add LIKE fractions and get the right sum,
You just add the numerators;
Keep the same denominator down below.
So, two fifths plus two fifths equals four fifths.
Add two plus two-easy to do.
How easy is that?

To subtract LIKE fractions and get the right difference,
You subtract the numerators,
Keep the same denominator down below.
So, three fourths minus two fourths equals one fourth.
Three minus two-easy to do.
How easy is that?

Easy for you, and now it's easy for me.
It looks complicated, but it's easy as can be.
How easy is that?

When they're UNLIKE fractions, how do you know?
Different denominators down below.

To add or subtract UNLIKE fractions
And get the right difference or sum,
Use equivalent fractions
That have the same denominator down below.

So, one fifth plus one tenth
Is just the same as
Two tenths plus one tenth,
And two tenths plus one tenth equals three tenths.
Add two plus one-it's easily done.
How easy is that?

Easy for you-now it's easy for me,
It looks complicated but it's easy when you know
That you need the same denominator,
The same denominator,
The same denominator down below.

How easy is that? How easy is that?
How easy is that? Oh, how easy is that?

A Minute Seems Like

(chorus) A minute seems like a minute.
A day seems like a day.
But an hour of doing what I don't like
Is longer than one of play.

I can read a book for an hour
And stay and stay and stay.
But a minute of cleaning up my room
Seems longer than a day.

(chorus)

I play soccer for two hours
And I always want some more.
But a minute of waiting for my turn.
Seems much more like it's four.

Pennies, Nickels, Dimes

(chorus) Five pennies in a nickel.
Two nickels in a dime.
Four quarters in a dollar.
I'm saving all the time.

I have a little piggy bank.
I'm saving for a bike.
I'm raking leaves for quarters.
That's a job I like.

(chorus)

My sister wants some roller skates,
So she saves every penny.
She stacks them up and counts by ten
Because she has so many.

How Many Is Too Many? (reasonable estimates)

(chorus) How many is too many?
How many is too few?
I always have to think a bit
Before I answer you.

How many friends should you ask to your party?
Would eighty friends be good?
Or would a smaller group like eight
Be more like what you should?

(chorus)

How many games can you play at your party?
Would twenty games be right?
Or should you play just one or two
So the games won't last all night?

(chorus)

Skipping Song (skip counting)

(chorus) When I'm in a hurry
To count up something long,
I skip some of the numbers
As I sing this song.

Two, four, six, eight chicks I saw
With a mother hen.
Ten, twelve, fourteen, sixteen.
Count them all again.

(chorus)

  Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty
Pennies on the floor.
To get up to a hundred
I'll need fifty more.

(chorus)

Lyricists Aren't Always Poets: Some of the Worst Song Lyrics
Lyrics are often considered as poetry for the masses; in turn, those who write lyrics are considered as poets This idea may not be true all the time, but it is applicably to a few notably artists
